THE INPUT

Saved media, straight to text.

For an Instagram Reels transcript, choose a video saved on your device, or an audio file. This page converts Instagram video to text from the spoken audio, including videos without captions.

WAV, MP3, M4A, MP4, WebM, OGG and FLAC are accepted when your browser can decode the audio codec. One file at a time, up to 50 MB and 2 minutes. These are this page’s limits, not daily quotas.

Public Instagram links are not supported. A public post is not a direct audio file; browser access restrictions prevent reliable retrieval here. Use a local file you own or have permission to process.

THE PROCESS

On your device. In your control.

Audio is decoded, converted to mono and processed in this browser. The speech model and runtime download from external hosts on first use and may be cached for later visits. Your audio and transcript are not sent to them.

There is no account, analytics, transcript history or server transcription. Clear removes the current workspace; closing the tab discards it. Downloads you save remain on your device.

Recognition runs on your device’s processor. Phones and older computers may take longer or run out of memory. Keep this tab open and start with a short clip.

A FEW DETAILS

Before you press play again.

Is this Instagram transcript generator free?

Yes. Local transcription has no paid API, account or per-day allowance. Your normal internet data charges may apply when the runtime and model download.

Which languages can I transcribe?

The lightweight multilingual model has 99 language options, listed in the language selector. Automatic detection is also available. This version does not meet a 100-plus-language requirement. Language availability does not mean equal accuracy; only English has been checked in the local acceptance test.

Can I edit and export the result?

Yes. Edit the plain text or switch to SRT to edit timed subtitle cues. Each format has its own copy and download button. Edits in one format do not rewrite the other, so timing stays under your control. Subtitle timings are model-generated estimates; review them before publishing.

How accurate is the transcript?

No accuracy percentage is promised. Music, overlapping speech, accents and unclear recordings can cause mistakes. Speech models can also invent words in silence. Review the transcript against the original recording, especially names and quotations. This tool does not separate speakers or translate audio.

Why won’t my video open?

A file extension does not guarantee that your browser supports its audio codec. Try a short WAV or MP3 export if decoding fails. Files without a decodable audio track cannot be transcribed. This page does not extract text from on-screen images.
